Warm honey-yellow translucent jadeite (huang fei)

The carver shaped this yellow tiger jade pendant from a warm, translucent honey-yellow jadeite. Meanwhile, Chinese jade trade calls this yellow family “huang fei” (黄翡), from natural iron in the stone. Furthermore, the colour reads rich and golden across the whole plaque. Because the jadeite runs translucent, light enters the stone and lifts the yellow from within. As a result, the pendant glows with a warm, honey-like inner light. Therefore, the piece looks bright yet soft rather than dark or heavy. Across the polished surface, the jade shows a clean, bright lustre. In short, the stone pairs rich warm colour with quiet inner depth.

Carved tiger on a pear-shaped plaque

The carver worked the jadeite into a strong tiger figure across a pear-shaped plaque. Meanwhile, the tiger stands with a clear head, mane, and long striped body in deep relief. Furthermore, carved pine needles run along one side as a traditional “pine and tiger” (松虎) scene. Because jadeite is dense and fine-grained, the carving holds sharp lines through the stripes, the pine, and the facial features. As a result, the figure reads full of power and movement. At the top, a small hole lets the pendant hang from a cord or chain. Together, the carved tiger and the warm yellow stone finish the yellow tiger jade pendant with classic Chinese character.

Meaning of the tiger with pine in jade

In Chinese tradition, the tiger stands for strength, courage, and the power to turn away bad luck. Meanwhile, people have long carried small jade tigers as personal guardian charms. Furthermore, the pine tree joins the design as a symbol of longevity and endurance through every season. Because the two motifs sit together, jade lore reads “pine and tiger” (松虎) as a wish for strong, long life. In addition, yellow jade carries the older imperial association of warmth, wealth, and a steady, prosperous path. Together, the tiger, the pine, and the honey-yellow stone pair strength with long life and warm fortune. As a result, this yellow tiger jade pendant carries a layered wish for courage, long life, and steady good luck.
